If I sleep late
It means I wake up early
Or roll over where crimson is not for enemies
Where latex is a thing one doesnt wear
Where latex is always flat, out of confusion
Where latex is tile or white or brushed through
If I sleep late
It means dinner comes in the morning the next day
Or at noon where chickens never crow in the kitchen
Or that we are too full that we slept over hate
If I sleep late
It means Ill run out of ink for work the day after
Drawing lines on surfaces I know I own
Between everything
The crease on your bed
The dent on your cheek
And places between limbs that sweat or swallow
Like trenches under seas
Deep dark seas
If I sleep late
It means I put too much cream
On your cold coffee
Around rhymes I stir and shake every 2 a.m.
If I sleep late
I am somewhere I can be for every single day of years from today
Somewhere our hands are off the remote control
Somewhere we never have to eat warm cold pizza
Write numbers on stained papers
Miss calls or curl away from bad hearts
Or have one or two bottles on a Sunday.
